kitty
Kitty Goes Californian is the story of Kitty Fisher, a 16 year-old girl from New York City who dreams of living the life of her idol, Gidget. Obsessed with everything retro and surf, Kitty gets the chance to realize her ambition of being a California beach bum when her dad invites her out to his Southern Californian digs for the summer. But Kitty's dreams for the perfect surfing summer run into trouble when she flies out only to find herself friendless and crippled by surf stage fright. All seems lost until she meets Zeke and her reality starts to surpass her Technicolor dream life.
Kitty is rated PG all the way.
Kitty Goes Californian is an independently
published book and free to read on this website. It is also available to buy in paperback at Lulu.com.
pepper
Kitty Goes Californian is Pepper McNeil's
first book. Having grown up with a daily dose of Gidget re-runs,
Pepper moved to Los Angeles from New York City to become a
beach bum. Unfortunately, her beach bum dreams were smashed
when she found herself gainfully employed at a national newspaper's
Los Angeles news bureau in the late 90s. Whilst there, Pepper
occasionally contributed articles on surfing and became the
in-house research Betty for all things Gidget and California
retro.
During the six years Pepper lived in Los Angeles she discovered
that she was an even worse surfer than Kitty. Pepper now lives
in London. Like the Hudson, there is no swell on the Thames.
Pepper would like to thank everyone who supported her through
developing the Kitty story, especially the real Gidget, Kathy Kohner, for being the most bitchin' teen Betty of all time and a genuine muse.
